Governor Cuomo further reiterated that by going ahead and establishing some sort of a regulatory framework for the production and sale of hemp and its extracts, then the state of New York will be setting the hemp industry on a clear path towards a smart and safe way that not only empowers farmers, but also the consumers.

Cannabidiol is one of the most active ingredients found in hemp, a distant cousin of the marijuana plant. However, it does not contain the compound that makes users high.
What Benefits can CBD Bill Bring?
Cannabidiol has been sounded as a treatment for a vast variety of complications such as anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and a key component in an FDA approved medicine excellent for two severe and rare forms of child epilepsy.
Governor Cuomo’s bill was passed, and contained a chapter amendment aimed at providing a streamlined system towards the regulation of hemp products in the state of New York while providing the Department of Agriculture and Markets a supervisory role to monitor hemp growers.
Additionally, the Department of Health is given full supervision regarding hemp products, and tasked with creating a registration requirement that sellers of hemp products have to abide by.
In addition, the new law also regulates clothing, beauty products, and all items manufactured from hemp.
However, beverages and food that contain CBD – which were banned over the summer in New York – are not covered.
